Out over the pacific, tropical moisture has been spreading into a series of wavy frontal systems that has ridden upon 200 mph jet stream straight into the face of Yachats,which is located in the Pacific Northwest. There has been periods of rain with some areas of moderate to heavy rain, and fog on Cape Fowlweather. It is bizarre sight It started Tuesday and tonight, Wednesday night. It continues....

Christmas season is in full swing in the village of Yachats, and most of us have recuperated from our recent "big storm", and the thought of the power going out for 36 hours, is all but a distant memory. It seems so long ago.

Well, for about two hours this morning, December 23, the Village of Yachats and the town of Waldport, Oregon de-energize into relative darkness. The memory has once again been revived.

Yachats Survives December 2007 Storms

High Winds and Driving rain pounded Yachats into the dark Sunday and Monday. With power down for more than 32 hours, the Village looked like a ghost town without the ghosts. Fireplaces keeping most locals warm and maybe an extra blanket for the bed.
